GT students are often pulled for a quick enrichment lesson, or put into advanced courses and forgotten about. In most schools, they are not being properly challenged or instructed in the mainstream classroom. This often causes them to accept mediocrity or become lazy and unmotivated. Our job as educators is to reach every student where they are, even if they are grade levels above the majority of the students. We have to find ways to keep our GT students engaged and growing in their learning every day. I will be sharing ideas on this topic with you from the book "Teaching Gifted Kids in Today's Classroom" by Susan Winebrenner.
